Running an organisation means looking at the present and having an eye on what’s coming next. At Imperial, our technology foresight team uses structured thinking informed by academic expertise to help businesses look ten or even twenty years into the future.
Imperial Tech Foresight, powered by our membership network Imperial Business Partners, has just released its latest look into the future, 2041 Scenarios: Computation, Energy and the Planet. This vision examines two of the most important technological drivers of societal change – energy, and computation – and explores the unfolding consequences of their technological development for people, organisations and the planet.
The scenarios look beyond today’s technologies, both legacy fossil fuels and present-day renewables. They considers the far future where the next generation of low-carbon energy like nuclear fusion and computation technologies like quantum computing have matured.
What does it mean to organisations and lives when the limitations of the present and short-term future have been reduced?
Many of our business partners think in terms of having a portfolio of innovation investments. Some innovation projects are for short term opportunities, and some are for longer-term possibilities. If you like to think that way too, the 2041 Scenarios will be of interest.
You can view the 2041 Scenarios here, and if you’d like to further explore how your business can make the best of the future, contact Imperial Business Partners.
Best wishes,
