Ventures

Meet the innovators from our fifth cohort and their ventures:

  • Dr Anaid Benitez, The Francis Crick Institute, Stratisal - A tumour diagnostic test to help oncologist predict patient response to treatments that target the DNA damage response.
  • Dr Yu-Chih Chen, Imperial College London, Respire Diganostics - Respire Diagnostics uses exhaled breath to identify bio-markers that correlates to diseases for patient identification and condition monitoring. 
  • Gigi Lam (PhD candidate), Royal College of Music, Handl - A next-generation digital musical instrument using mobile technology as the backbone to support collaborative music-making and social interaction for people with special needs.
  • Dr Leah Frenette, Imperial College London, Zyme Dx - Zyme Dx aims to deliver ultrasensitive diagnostic devices at the point-of-care and provide access to diagnostics in developed and developing countries.
  • Stephen Laws (PhD candidate), Imperial College London, 2Viz - A sensor that can autonomously identify different tissues, generating digital 3D maps of said tissues to enable clinicians to improve patient outcomes.

 

 


  • Dr Konstantinos Paschos, Imperial College London, Amalthea - A platform for high-throughput, efficient and cost-effective discovery of human monoclonal antibodies against infectious disease.
  • Shahrooz Shahin, Royal College of Art, Reminisys - A wearable technology which uses artificial intelligence and computer vision to assist people with memory issues to recall information from their personalised database.
  • Dr Zhengchu Tan, Imperial College London, Organa - Developing high fidelity organ mimics to test medical devices and train the next generation of surgeons and surgical robots.
  • Dr Shuqiao Xie, Imperial College London, Smart Surgical Solutions - A low cost and easy to use intra-operative smartphone-based navigation device to help surgeons place orthopaedic implants precisely.
  • Sigourney Waibel (PhD candidate), Imperial College London, NOAH Analytics - NOAH Analytics uses wearables and AI to automatically monitor patient behaviour, unlocking hospital bed and staff capacity and reducing errors and treatment delays.
