Empowering the next generation of MSK Innovators  

MedTech SuperConnector, with the support of Orthopaedic Research UK, will be accepting applications for its MSK Themed Accelerator Programme from Friday 11 August until Sunday 15 October 2023.
 
The accelerator programme is a 6 month intensive learning journey providing participants with entrepreneurship training, masterclasses and access to domain expertise. The accelerator learning content is part-time.

Programme Outcomes

The accelerator programme will provide you with the following main outcomes that will fast-track your innovation to market.
 
  1. Industry Knowledge and Business Development – Develop a robust understanding of the MedTech sector, including emerging trends and competitor dynamics. Sharpen your skills in business planning and financial management, crucial for scaling your initiative.

  2. Intellectual Property and Regulatory Compliance – Understand the importance of IP protection, patents, trademarks, and licensing. Navigate the challenging regulatory landscape.

  3. Communication and Pitching Improve your communication skills empowering you to captivate investors, partners, and potential customers. Enhance your pitching capabilities to better sell your vision and product.

  4. Networking and Collaboration – Establish connections with industry professionals, experienced advisors, and fellow innovators. Create a support framework for your MedTech journey.

Eligibility Criteria

This programme is open to MSK related Innovations at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 3 or above from research fellows, postdocs & late-stage PhD candidates or innovators from Academic Research Centres, Small to Medium size Enterprise with research laboratories, or clinical institutes with a medical technology in development in the lab or digital environment.

  • Technologies should be at a minimum of proof concept stage, TRL3
  • Be looking to explore the commercialisation or licensing of their technology
  • Applications are accepted from both institutional and non-institutional IP
  • Postdocs and PhD candidates must have support from their Principal Investigator or research supervisor to be on the programme, and written support from the institution’s Tech Transfer Office
  • Applicants must own, or have explicit written permission to use, exploit and commercialise the innovation’s IP* 
  • Protectable IP (this does not need to have been filed yet)
  • UK based
  • Be prepared to raise pre-seed round in the next 12 months

*Note: MTSC does not take equity or any claim to IP old or developed during the programme

 

How to apply

  • Step 1: Submit a completed application (deadline: Sunday 15 October 2023 23:59)

  • Step 2: Interview period - successful candidates will have the opportunity to book an online interview slot (rolling basis, October 2023)

  • Step 3: Invitation to join the programme (Thursday 09 November 2023) 

  • Step 4: Programme kick-off in person in London (late November 2023)
