R&D that makes a commercial impact
For investors and industrial R&D partners, Imperial creates solutions that make a real impact. This is reflected in the interest we’re receiving in our Investor Network, whose registered investors, now numbering over 500, are among the first to learn about Imperial’s science-backed startups.
This month’s startup developments include the launch of RemePhy, a spinout that will use plants to decontaminate mining sites, a £4m seed round for AI safety spinout Safe Intelligence, and the scale up of Lixea, which turns biomass into useful chemicals.
For research partners, spinout companies can also provide an alternative route to developing technologies developed with Imperial, as with SOLVE, a spinout we launched with BASF that’s using AI to accelerate R&D in chemical manufacturing.
Imperial startups are supported by an investment services team that works to upskill and prepare early stage founders to go out and build partnerships with investors. Several startups are receiving funding from ICEF, a fund that offers alumni and high net worth individuals chances to invest in early stage Imperial companies, and we are working toward the launch of a new venture fund, Science Capital Imperial.
If you work for a venture capital firm or your company has an investment arm, please enquire about joining our Investor Network for access to showcase events and other insights into startups coming from our scientific community.
